§ Mr. Marlow
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his answer of 21 January,Official Report, columns 393–94, what is the reason for the replacement of acres by hectares as the only acceptable measurement on most returns.

§ Mr. Curry
Council Directive on the approximation of the laws of the member states relating to units of measurement No. 80/181 EC as amended by Council Directive No. 89/617 EC requires the phasing out of acres by the end of 1994 for these returns.
