HC Deb 17 December 1993 vol 234 cc938-9W
Mr. Sedgemore

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will incorporate the advice of the British Medical Association and others contained in the document "Confidentiality and People Under 16" in the guidelines on sex education he is sending out for consultation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Robin Squire

Consultative draft guidance on the new arrangements for sex education in schools in England was published on 6 December 1993, inviting comments by 18 February 1994. A copy has been sent to the British Medical Association. The draft guidance addresses issues of confidentiality as they apply to schools. Any views expressed by the British Medical Association or others will be taken into account in preparing the guidance in final form which we intend to issue to schools next spring.
