Dr. Reid

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many official cars are currently at the disposal of his Department; and how much of his Department's budget has been allocated for their provision in the financial year 1993–94.

The number of staff cars in use are as follows:

1The Army listings include vehicles held in the London district and other pools for the use of ministers and civil servants

The current grade A car is the Rover 825D, the current grade B car is the Rover Montego Diesel and the current grade C car is the Vauxhall Corsa Diesel. The estimated expenditure in 1993–94 is some £8,545,000.
