To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many persons have been appointed deputy county court judges in Northern Ireland in the current year; and for what periods such appointments have lasted.

Thirteen persons have been appointed deputy county court judges in Northern Ireland since 1 January 1993, each appointment being made for a period of three years.

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will list all the functions organised by the Northern Ireland court service to which officials of the Irish Republic were invited in 1992 and 1993.

The only function organised by the Northern Ireland court service to which officials of the Government of the Irish Republic were invited in 1992 and 1993 was the Christmas drinks party hosted by the directorate.
