§ Sir John WheelerIn 1990, the Northern Ireland Office commissioned an independent researcher to carry out a study of young offenders released from all training schools. The researcher submitted a draft of his report for comment in October 1993, to which the office responded in November. The researcher is, we understand, now working on the final version of this report.
While the Northern Ireland Office does not normally itself publish evaluative reports of this kind, it does in principle support the dissemination of research findings from commissioned projects. Any proposal by the author to offer papers based on this research for publication in appropriate journals would, accordingly, be sympathetically considered.
