To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions have taken place with local fishermen's associations and other maritime-interest groups concerning the installation of the gas pipeline between the south of Scotland and Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

Premier Transco Ltd., a British Gas subsidiary, has conducted a series of consultations with a wide range of fishery and other maritime interest groups. This consultation is taking place prior to Premier Transco formally submitting its application to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry should the company decide to proceed with the development.
