HC Deb 17 December 1993 vol 234 c971W
Mr. Wilson

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer which Scottish island and inter-island air services will be(a) affected by and (b) exempted from the new flight tax.

Sir John Cope

Based on details in October 1993 airline timetables, and information available about proposed changes in aircraft to be used on certain routes, but not allowing for any seasonal variations which there may be, the following Scottish island and inter-island services use aircraft which will be exempt from air passenger duty: Orkney inter-island and Shetland inter-island services and some of the services from Inverness, Glasgow or Wick to Orkney and from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Shetland. Other services from the mainland to the islands or between the islands will be taxable.
