Mr. Hanley

In accordance with the requirements of the United Nations arms register, the United Kingdom has reported a number of defence equipment exports. However, it is not our practice to comment on the detail of individual defence export contracts.

Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the export of eight large-calibre artillery systems from the United Kingdom to Nepal as listed in the United Nations register of conventional arms; and for what reasons this appeared in the submissions by Nepal, but not that by the United Kingdom.

Mr. Hanley

No large-calibre artillery systems were transferred to Nepal in 1992.
