How many persons convicted of causing death by dangerous driving or by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs received the maximum penalty of imprisonment in each of the five years before the coming into force of Section 67(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993.

Information reported to the Home Office shows the following number of persons convicted in England and Wales of causing death by dangerous driving (reckless driving prior to the coming into force of the Road Traffic Act 1991) or careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs who received the maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment:
