HC Deb 16 December 1993 vol 234 cc819-20W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to publish the findings of the scientific report into cryptosporidium.

Mr. Yeo

The drinking water inspectorate has completed its assessment of two incidents, in March-April 1992 and October-November 1992, involving the detection of low levels of cryptosporidium in the water supplied from Broadfields treatment works, Isle of Wight. The inspectorate will be writing shortly to Southern Water Services Ltd. setting out its conclusions and recommendations on each incident. Copies of these letters will be sent to the local authorities, district health authorities and customer service committee concerned, to the Office of Water Services and others who have expressed an interest. I will send the hon. Member copies.
