To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many fatalities arose from gunshot wounds recorded in the years 1990, 1991 and 1992 in the United Kingdom; and what analysis has been made in his Department of how many such incidents involved assailants suffering from the ingestion of drugs.

The available information, for England and Wales, which relates to offences currently recorded as homicide where the method of killing was recorded as shooting were as follows:

No information is available centrally as to whether the assailants were suffering from the ingestion of drugs.
