§ Sir George YoungA total of 56,900 households for which local authorities had accepted responsibility to secure permanent accommodation were in temporary accommodation on 30 September 1993, the latest date for which a figure is available.
This is the fourth successive quarter in which the number of households in temporary accommodation has fallen; the current figure is some 8,530—13 per cent.—less than a year earlier.
