To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what refurbishment, at what cost, has taken place in St. James's palace since April 1992.

The information is as follows: cleaning and repair of brick and stonework—£820,000; refurbishment of six residential apartments, including relocation of changing facilities for the yeoman of the guard-£250,000; a number of small projects including redecoration of some areas of the state apartments, external redecorations, renewal of windows, water cisterns and other minor works—£100,000.

Total £1,170,000.
