To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will make a statement on parental choice of school.

Mr. Robin Squire

All parents have the right, in accordance with the principles of the parents charter, to express a preference for a choice of school. In an estimated 90 per cent. of cases that preference is met. The Government's policies aim to extend choice and diversity throughout the education system.
