HL Deb 14 December 1993 vol 550 c107WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the latest available figures for the take-up of family credit.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Viscount Astor)

The latest departmental figures for the take-up of family credit in Great Britain, which are for 1988 and 1989 combined, were published inIncome Related Benefits Estimates of Take-Up in 1989 a copy of which was placed in the Library of the House. This publication also reports the results of later research by the Policy Studies Institute which estimated that in Great Britain in 1991, 71 per cent. of available family credit was being claimed by 64 per cent. of those eligible to claim.
