(2) what analysis his Department has conducted into the relationship between the level of car crime in England and Wales and the levels of unemployment since 1979.
§ Mr. MacleanWork on these subjects was covered in the Home Office research study "Trends in Crime and their Interpretation" published in 1990. The study found that, once the strong effect of personal consumption growth on530W car crime and household burglary were taken into account, no separate relationship with unemployment could be identified.
