Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, pursuant to his answer of 23 November,Official Report, column 35, which company arranges travel for his officials; and what form bills take if records are kept by mode of travel only.

Mr. Hague

Wagon-Lits Travel Ltd. is the approved contractor for business travel by officials of the Department. The company presents its bills in two forms. Each month, a list of all travel transactions is provided in invoice date order together with cost centre analyses of individual expenditure for internal accounting purposes.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security on how many occasions and at what cost to public funds officials have visited his private residence in France.

Mr. Hague

Department of Social Security officials have visited the house of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State in France on one occasion. The cost of the visit was £449.24.
