HL Deb 13 December 1993 vol 550 cc89-90WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What importance they attach to the statement made on 25th November by Mr. Primakov, Head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, reportedly approved by the Russian Defence Ministry and the Russian President, that, Russia is "not indifferent to the fact that the world's biggest military grouping (NATO) plans to reach right up to our border" and that if this happens it "would necessitate counter-measures on the part of Russia".

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

Mr. Primakov is a Russian official. His views on this issue are not necessarily those of the Russian government as a whole.
