HC Deb 10 December 1993 vol 234 c394W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many patients have been flown back from abroad in each year since 1990; and what was the cost to the NHS.

Dr. Mawhinney

Neither United Kingdom nor European Community legislation contains any power allowing national health service funds to be used to defray repatriation costs incurred outside the United Kingdom by United Kingdom residents. There is no central record of numbers privately repatriated by air.
