In what precise ways the British Programme for Democracy and the Know How Fund have contributed to the formation of arrangements for, and the conduct of, the election campaign in Russia.

We are sending a team of eight Parliamentarians and 12 others to observe the parliamentary elections on 12th December. We have sent two senior BBC producers to outline media practice and procedures in covering campaigns in Britain to the Russian broadcasting stations. Both of these missions are funded from the Know How Fund.

The £500,000 British Programme for Democracy is intended to support the new institutions that will emerge after the Russian elections. We are currently considering possible projects with the NGOs which we hope will help implement these.
