Whether any Home Office remand and other prisoners have been held in custody by the police since 1 September 1993 and if so, how many, and on which dates, and which police forces have been involved.

Lord Ferrers has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of prisoners held in custody by the police, on which dates and which police forces have been involved.
No prisoners were held in police cells during the period from 1 September 1993 to 4 November 1993. The position from 5 November 1993 to the latest date for which complete information is available is set out in the following table.
The majority of these prisoners were received into prison custody on the day after they are shown as in police cells.
