To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for the development of sport and recreation in Scotland.

The Government's policies for sport and recreation in Scotland are implemented principally through the Scottish Sports Council, which receives annual grant-in-aid from my right hon. Friend. The council's objectives are to increase participation and improve performance in sport and recreation at all levels.
