HC Deb 08 December 1993 vol 234 c263W
Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will call in the Liverpool airport planning application, consider it in tandem with the Manchester application, appoint the same inspector to consider both and base a decision on a coherent approach to the north-west region as a whole.

Mr. Baldry

I understand that the application was submitted to the relevant local planning authorities on 3 December. It is for those authorities in the first instance to undertake statutory and other consultations and reach a preliminary view on the proposals, before the question of intervention by the Secretary of State would be considered.
