To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many lone parent families, headed by a mother under the age of 21 years are currently in receipt of(a) family credit, (b) housing benefit and (c) disability working allowance.

The number of lone parents in receipt of housing benefit in Great Britain in May 1992—the latest date for which figures are available—was approximately 816,000.
