§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 30 November 1993]: Only provisional figures for the period January to August 1993 are available. One hundred and thirty-one private patients have been discharged from NHS hospitals in Strathclyde region. This compares with 313,803 NHS patients discharged for the same period.
