HC Deb 06 December 1993 vol 234 cc66-7W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for health what were the salary costs of NHS employees engaged in supplies work at(a) regional, (b) district and (c) unit level for 1990–91.

Mr. Sackville

The nearest available information relates to January and February 1992. At that time, there were around 5,000 supplies staff employed by over 70 different employing authorities. The staff costs were approximately £64 million a year, including national insurance, superannuation, overtime and allowances.
