§ Mr. SoamesThe proposals for amendments to directive 91/628/EEC on protection of animals during transport were deposited in the Library of the House on 22 September 1993, reference 8441/93. The Commission's explanatory memorandum referred to the conclusions of the Scientific Veterinary Committee, which the Commission accepted, on the question of journey limits. They pointed out in particular that it would be simple to evade a journey limit by using intermediate places of destination.
