HC Deb 03 December 1993 vol 233 c779W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the status of the current discussions on the data protection directive, and in particular the current state of agreement or disagreement between member states on articles 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 as published in COM(92)4.22.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The Council working group has completed its first reading of the revised text of the draft directive. A second reading has started. It would not be right for me to disclose the extent of agreement or disagreement on any particular article. In general, the range of views expressed is very wide.
