HC Deb 02 December 1993 vol 233 cc657-8W
27. Mr. Skinner

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what recent discussions he or his officials have had with Sinn Fein.

Sir Patrick Mayhew

There have been no negotiations with Sinn Fein on political matters at either ministerial or official level. As I told the House on Monday, there has been an exchange of documents through a channel of communication since February—and these are in the Library of the House. It is also a matter of record that Ministers and officials have met council delegations, which from time to time have included Sinn Fein members, to discuss constituency matters.
