§ Baroness Davidasked Her Majesty's Government:
What action they have taken to consider whether law, policy and practice concerned with the environment, for which they have responsibility and which affects children and young people under the age of 18, are in full compliance with all the provisions in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and whether they have in particular considered whether such law, policy and practice is in full compliance with:
- (a) Article 2;
- (b) Article 3;
- (c) Article 12; and
- (d) Article 24 of the Convention.
§ Baroness Denton of WakefieldWe have no reason to believe that environmental legislation, policy and practice in the United Kingdom contravenes any of the provisions of the convention. In particular, the provision of clean drinking water and the avoidance of the dangers and risks of environmental pollution, which are mentioned in Article 24, are a primary concern of UK environment policy.
