§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans she has to inform health authorities and trusts of the circumstances in which patients may be relocated in other parts of the country(a) if they are being treated under section 19 of the National Health Act 1983 and (b) otherwise.
§ Mr. BowisThere are no plans to issue guidance on these cases. Clinicians refer all patients to units which most appropriately meet their needs. This applies equally to patients detained under the Mental Health Act and who are transferred under section 19.
