HL Deb 02 December 1993 vol 550 cc47-8WA
Lord Judd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What, in the Oxford region in the year ending April 1993, were the total direct and indirect (e.g., including primary health care departments' work, family health services authority staff costs and administrative management allowances) administrative costs of the fundholding scheme; what specific arrangements are in place to evaluate and monitor the cost effectiveness of this expenditure; what total sum was used for the purchase of capital assets owned by general practitioners; and what proportion of total fundholders' savings on other parts of their budgets this last sum represented.

Baroness Cumberlege

This information is not available centrally. Regional health authorities are responsible for managing the general practitioner fundholding scheme in their areas. The noble Lord may wish to contact Dr. Stuart Burgess, Chairman of Oxford Regional Health Authority, for details.
