§ 313. Mr. Simon Burns (Chelmsford)To ask the President of the Board of Trade, when he expects to announce his decisions on the bids for Konver funding by Essex county council and others; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Sainsbury[pursuant to his reply 25 November 1993, column 112]: I am pleased to announce that grants totalling £15.6 million have been approved to 150 applicants under the United Kingdom's Konver programme, including grants of over £350,000 to Essex. There was keen competition for the grant available. The successful projects are of high quality. I expect them to bring real benefits to the areas which are dependent on defence spending.
