HC Deb 02 December 1993 vol 233 cc685-6W
Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he next plans to meet representatives of the Scottish Golf Union to discuss the role of golf in Scotland; what is his most recent estimate of the revenue that golf in Scotland attracts from inward investment; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Hector Monro

[holding answer 1 December 1993]: My right hon. Friend and I have no immediate plans to meet any representatives of the Scottish Golf Union to discuss any aspect of the game of golf. I would, of course, be only too willing to meet with the Scottish Golf Union to discuss any matters of mutual interest if a request for a meeting was made to me. It is not possible to quantify the revenue that golf in Scotland attracts from inward investment, but it is obviously a very considerable sum.
