§ Mr. Alfred MorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to undertake an inter-departmental review of the funding of community care homes managed by housing associations to ensure their viability, prior to reinstating certification 10 and the consequential withdrawal of the housing revenue funding provided via the Housing Corporation from those individuals sponsored by social services departments under the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990.
§ Sir George YoungMy Department is consulting other Government Departments before a decision is taken on the arrangements for the Housing Corporation's revenue funding of housing association special needs schemes beyond the current financial year.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what figures are available to show the number of bed spaces which will be lost if proposals to withdraw funding from registered care homes managed by housing associations providing community care schemes under sponsorship arrangements are carried out.
§ Sir George YoungRevenue grants paid by the Housing Corporation are just one element in the income stream of housing associations which run schemes for clients with special needs. It is not possible, therefore, to quantify the effects of any changes in the level of that particular contribution in terms of the number of bed-spaces that associations are able to make available. Representations have been made to my Department about the effect which any reductions in the corporation's revenue support might have on individual schemes and those representations will be taken into account before a decision is taken on the arrangements for that support beyond the current financial year.
