§ Mr. Charles WardleChief constables are responsible for the recruitment and training of special constables in their force area.
The central planning and training unit has developed a number of standard training packages as a resource for training special constables. National special constable training packages covering induction and basic training are now in use in the majority of forces in England and Wales, and a new development training package is being introduced in a number of police forces.
