§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if she will list the current designated disposal sites for sewage sludge dumping off the Yorkshire coast; how often these sites are reviewed; and if a map showing these sites can be(a) placed in the Library and (b) sent to the hon. Member.
§ Mr. JackThe designated site off the Yorkshire coast for the dumping of sewage sludge is some 12 miles east of Spurn Head in an area bounded by the co-ordinates:

53° 35.00' N 0° 30.00' E 53° 35.00' N 0° 35.00' E 53° 30.00' N 0° 35.35' E 53° 30.00' N 0° 30.00' E The site is located in deep water and its suitability for sewage sludge disposal is kept under continuous review in the light of the results of the regular monitoring programme. The monitoring results are published in the Ministry's aquatic environment monitoring report series. In March 1990 the Government announced that the disposal of sewage sludge at sea would cease at the end of 1998.
