Mr. BowlsIn the year ending 31 March 1993, there was an average of 47,294 beds available for use in wards caring for mentally ill patients, providing 1.0 beds per thousand population. The number of patients treated as ordinary admissions and day cases in these wards during 1992–93 was 234,000 representing 4.8 patients per thousand population. These figures are exclusive of beds available in other residential facilities.
