HC Deb 01 December 1993 vol 233 cc587-8W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations she has received on the subject of the hill livestock compensatory allowance scheme; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Jack

My right hon. Friend met representatives of the National Farmers Union, the National Farmers Union of Scotland and the Ulster Farmers Union on 26 October to discuss economic conditions in the hills and uplands. Ministry officials have also had meetings with these bodies, the Farmers Union of Wales and the Country Landowners Association. In addition, my right hon. Friend and I have had correspondence with a number of hon. Members representing hill farming constituencies.
