§ Mr. SackvilleStudies in animals referred to in my reply to my hon. Friend on 2 July at columns647-48, have now been completed. They have failed to establish the infective dose of cryptosporidium. Further studies are being carried out in the United States of America but will take at least two years to produce any results.
§ Mr. BowdenTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what advice and guidance her Department gives to medical officers and environmental health officers regarding the issue of notices to water suppliers requiring them to advise customers to boil drinking water which contains low levels of cryptosporidium oocyst contamination.
§ Mr. SackvilleAdvice to boil water is given to protect public health. This is the responsibility of district health authorities and is issued by their consultants in communicable disease control.
