HC Deb 01 December 1993 vol 233 c605W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the cargo being carried by the convoy of three military lorries which travelled along the A638 road into Doncaster town, South Yorkshire at approximately 12.30 hours on 27 October; where the convoy originated; what was its final destination; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hanley

Without details of vehicle types, registration numbers, and so on, it is not possible positively to identify the vehicles concerned. On the day and about the time in question, however, two Army Landrovers and a four-ton lorry were travelling on the A630 where it merges with the A638 in Doncaster. The vehicles had been collected from Grantham and were proceeding to 219 Transport Squadron (V) at Scarborough barracks in Doncaster. They were not carrying any cargo.
