HC Deb 29 April 1993 vol 223 c507W
Mr. Blair

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will detail the procedures for firms to re-bid on cost, after all the original bids have been received, for the contract to manage Her Majesty's prison Manchester.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Ian Dunbar to Mr. Tony Blair, dated April 1993:

In the temporary absence of Mr. Lewis, the Director General, from the office the Home Secretary has asked me to write to you in reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the procedures for firms to re-bid on costs.

There are at present no such procedures in place; in the event that a re-tender is required, tenderers will be advised accordingly, and the procedures detailed.

Any unsolicited re-tenders received after the return date will be considered as late tenders, and may not be included in the evaluation.
