To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the total number of pharmacies in England; and how many dispense more than 2,000 prescriptions.

The total number of pharmacies in England in 1991–92 was 9,765. Of these, 6,998 pharmacies dispensed more than 2,000 prescriptions each month on average during that year.
