Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has sought from his Russian counterpart on the recent accident at the Tomsk-7 nuclear reprocessing plant in Siberia in regard to dispersal of radioactivity to the atmosphere; and what response he has received.

Since the incident at Tomsk-7 Her Majesty's embassy in Moscow has remained in close touch with the appropriate Russian authorities who have been providing information in a timely manner. The Russian authorities have confirmed that action is being taken to decontaminate areas affected by the incident.
