HC Deb 28 April 1993 vol 223 cc434-5W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action is being taken by the United Nations against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in response to Korea's withdrawal from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

On 8 April, the President of the United Nations Security Council issued a statement on North Korea which expressed concern at the situation, reaffirmed the importance of the non-proliferation treaty and of parties adhering to it, and encouraged the International Atomic Energy Agency to continue consultations with North Korea. The Security Council remains seized of the matter and discussions continue on how to resolve the situation.
