§ Mr. McLoughlinIn 1992–93 a total of 178 young people with disabilities were trained as part of Barnsley and Doncaster TEC's careership—youth training—programme. This figure, which is the most recent available, represented 4.7 per cent. of the total number of young people involved in that programme and compares favourably with the national average for youth training, which is around 3 per cent.

§ Mr. McLoughlinMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State last met Mr. Peter Wetzel, the chairman of Barnsley and Doncaster TEC, when she visited the TEC on 1 March. She had a wide-ranging and productive discussion. The detail of any discussion with TECs about budgetary matters cannot, however, be disclosed at this stage.
