HL Deb 26 April 1993 vol 545 c4WA
Baroness Masham of Ilton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their present policy on BCG testing for tuberculosis for children of school age.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) immunisation is recommended for all schoolchildren between the ages of 10 and 13 years, provided that: (a) they have not previously had a successful BCG immunisation and (b) a tuberculin skin test proves negative.
