Letter from Mr. M. Fogden to Ms Angela Eagle, dated 22 April 1993:
As the Employment Service is an Executive Agency, the Secretary of State has asked me to write to you direct to respond to your Parliamentary Question to her about the number of claimants subject to unemployment benefit 208W disqualifications listed for the quarter to December 1992 for each standard region and for the United Kingdom as a whole. This is something which falls within the responsibilities she has delegated to me as Chief Executive of the Agency. The tables attached to my reply of 26 March showing the number of claimants subject to unemployment benefit disqualification were compiled in the form requested by means of a special exercise. This information is, in fact, available in a published document, the "Analysis of Adjudication Officers' Decisions", copies of which are held in the Library. The analysis for the quarter ending 31 December 1992, for each standard region and for Great Britain as whole, has been published and, as indicated in Mr. Turner's reply of 2 April, copies were sent to the Library on 29 March. As decided by the Administration Committee of the House of Commons, Chief Executive replies to written Parliamentary Questions will be published in the Official Report. I will also place a copy of this letter in the Library of the House.
