HL Deb 22 April 1993 vol 544 c111WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether National Health Service patients are disadvantaged in favour of private patients in National Health Trust Hospitals.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

No. Under the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990, trusts may treat private patients only so long as this does not interfere with their NHS work.
