§ Sir Hector MonroIn determining any application made to him for authorisation in respect of a process involving the incineration of tyres for the production of energy the chief inspector of Her Majesty's industrial pollution inspectorate would consider the environmental impact of the proposed process. Guidance on the criteria he would use in assessing an application is available in process guidance note IPR 1/6: "Combustion Processes —combustion of fuel manufactured from or comprised of tyres, tyre rubber or similar rubber waste in appliances with a net rated thermal input of 3 MW or more."
